Overcoming Panic Attacks is Possible

Panic attacks are sudden and frightening. You suddenly find yourself gasping for air, your heart palpitating, your palms sweaty. You’re trembling and choking. Those are the symptoms of having a panic attack.

People who have panic attacks are sometimes thought to be having a cardiac arrest. People who see them call the paramedics thinking you need to have your heart started again.
It may sound funny and silly to some but panic attacks are real and quite bothersome to many people. They are not having them on purpose to gain attention. Diagnosing panic attacks can be difficult, and the triggering factors vary from person to person. Anybody can actually have a panic attack. Most people just haven’t found their trigger yet.

People who suffer from anxiety attacks are prone to suffer depression too. Panic attack victims realise certain activities trigger it, thus they start to avoid that activity. They will also start to limit themselves from other activities.

Later on, they will find themselves in a small world with too many self-induced limitations. They become ashamed of themselves for being “weak” and start to isolate themselves from the world. This in turn can lead to depression and hopelessness.

Overcoming panic attacks is done by staying calm and focused. This may sound easier said than done, but it’s possible. When you’re having a panic attack, try to focus on what triggered it. Don’t pay much attention to the sensations coursing through you body. Talk to yourself and be in command of the situation. Anxiety attacks can’t kill you. The sensations you are feeling are normal and will pass. Don’t start panicking more. Stay calm. Breathe deep. Practice these steps until you start to overcome your panic.
